The Spiderbeam 12m XHD fiberglass pole with M6 eye is extremely strong, with a much greater wall thickness (up to 2 mm!) than the usual “rod” types. A special strengthening technique is used. Several layers of fiberglass are cross-wrapped alternately; this provides greatly increased lateral and linear strength. Stronger connections are achieved by increasing the overlap between individual tube segments.

The XHD (Extra High Duty) masts are specially designed for exra sturdiness and permanent setup. For dipole antennas the Spiderbeam 12m XHD fiberglass mast with M6 eye + clamp set is very suitable, even a BalUn of up to 900 grams can be placed at the top. Making an “inverted-V” or “Inverted-L” antenna is not a problem either. At 10-12 meters, the fiber optic mast can easily support small VHF/UHF yagis.
