Description
mAT-1500pro Antenna Tuner
The mAT-1500pro is an automatic antenna tuner intended for use with modern Icom, Yaesu and Kenwood transceivers. The mAT-1500pro tuner can also be used without control from the transceiver. The antenna tuner works with Icom transceivers supporting AH-3 or AH-4 Icom tuner, with YAESU transceivers supporting FC-30 , FC-40 or FC-50 Yaesu tuner, with Kenwood transceivers supporting AT-250 and AT-300 Kenwood tuner.
Compatible Icom devices include: IC-706, IC-703, IC-718, IC-7000, IC-7100, IC-7200, IC-7300, IC-7400, IC-7410, IC-746, IC-756, IC-7600, IC7610 The operation works the same as with an Icom tuner.
Compatible Yaesu devices include: FT-100,FT-857D,FT-897D,FT-450D,FT-891,FT-950,FT-991,FT-991A, FT-710, FTDX-3000, FTDX-10. The controls work the same as with a Yaesu tuner.
Compatible Kenwood devices include: TRC-80, TK-80, TS-2000, TS-50, TS-450, TS-480 SAT, TS-570, TS-590, TS-850, TS-870, TS-890, TS-990. The controls work the same as with a Kenwood tuner.
The mAT-1500pro tuner has a range of 1.8 MHz to 54 MHz. The maximum acceptable PEP power is 1500 watts. So this applies to SSB and CW. For PSK and Digimodes, the maximum acceptable power is 800 watts. It can tune virtually any coax-fed antenna. Use the HF kits ATU Choke BalUn to use the mAT-1500pro for a symmetrical antenna.
The antenna tuner has a wide tuning range, much larger than some other tuners, including the built-in tuners on many radios.
Operation
The mAT-1500pro is connected to the transceiver via its tuner jack. The antenna tuner is operated from the transceiver. The tuner jack also powers the antenna tuner, so no external power supply is needed. Tuning occurs when the TUNE button on the front of the transceiver is pressed and held for one second. However, this is not necessary the tuner can also be used without control from the transceiver.
The mAT-1500pro has 16,000 frequency memories. When you tune to or near a previously tuned frequency, the mAT-1500pro uses “Memory Tune” to recall the previous tuning parameters in a fraction of a second. If no memory is available, the tuner performs a full tuning cycle and stores the parameters for recall from memory on subsequent tuning cycles on that frequency. That way, the mAT-1500pro “learns” as it is being used and, over time, quickly adapts to previously used frequencies.
For your information:
The mAT-1500pro can also operate independently without being controlled from a transceiver. Then a supply voltage of 13.8 volts is required. Note that tuning is always done with limited transmit power (about 10 watts). When switching between antenna input 1 and 2 always make sure the transceiver is in receive mode. If this happens during transmission, irreparable damage occurs. Use the HF kits ATU Choke BalUn to use the mAT-1500pro for a symmetrical (feedline) antenna.
